How PrivacyLynx makes money through affiliate links, and why it never changes what we recommend.
We think you deserve to know how a free site pays for itself. Here it is, in full.
How we make money
PrivacyLynx earns a commission when a reader follows certain links to a partner and then buys a product or subscribes. This is called affiliate marketing. It is our only source of revenue in version 1 — there is no paywall and no paid advertising.
What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link carries a tag that tells the partner the visit came from PrivacyLynx. If a purchase follows, the partner pays us a small share. You can recognise these links by the visible “affiliate link” notice shown on every monetised block.
What it costs you
Nothing. The price you pay is the same whether you use our link or go to the partner directly. A commission comes out of the partner’s margin, not your pocket.
Our editorial independence
We only mention products we consider genuinely useful for privacy. A commission never buys a recommendation, a ranking or a kind word. When we cannot vouch for something, we say so — or we leave it out. If an offer stops meeting our bar, it leaves the site regardless of what it pays.
The “affiliate link” notice
Every block that can earn us a commission is labelled, so you always know when a link is monetised. If you ever spot a monetised link without that label, please tell us and we will fix it.
